Just in the nick of time, I finished the final pair of socks for the Summer of Socks 2008. I actually cast on for these on the drive home from Seattle and finished them this morning.

Bunny Socks

Bunny Socks

Yarn: Original Duet Sock bought at A Swell Yarn Shop in Seattle (Oops colorway)

Needles: US 2 (2.75mm)

Pattern: Toe Up Ribbed Sock based on Amy Swenson’s Generic Toe Up Socks. (Cast on 48 stitches and worked in 2×2 rib) to fit my 6 yr old who has size 12 feet.

I loved knitting these socks for several reasons. My Bunny hates when I sit with her and knit. So, I try to knit things for her. And, this yarn was so super soft, smooshy, and brightly colored that I know the recipient will absolutely love it.

So, I figured that I would flash some of the Duet and other yarns that I got whilst in Seattle in a pathetic attempt to distract you from the fact that I still haven’t taken any photos of the car.

See, TG has taken the car and parked it in the garage. Turns out there are still a number of things that have to be done before the car can be registered and driven.

So, a distraction is needed.

Speaking of distraction, how about these socks huh? They were started on day one of the two day drive home from Seattle and were nearly finished before we got home. Turns out, dk sock yarn knits up wicked fast, especially if the intended recipient has itty bitty kid feets.

If you are wondering why there are no pictures of the infamous YOL project that I said I was taking with me a few posts ago, I confess, it’s off a stitch right now. The lace will return shortly. Hopefully.

So, we flew down to Seattle, WA on Thursday of last week to buy a car from a dealership in Bellevue. Then, we spent five days in Seattle and surrounding areas playing before we drove the two days it took to get home.

What did we do? Well, let’s see, we bought lots of yarn…

And, if you can believe it, we had so much fun, I actually forgot to take a picture of the car! I guess I had better get that done before it goes into the shop for the conversion process. Look for more pics of the trip (and some of the car too!) in the next post.

We can’t come to the blog right now. We are on our way to Seattle to pick up something large, shiny, and fast. (No, it’s not a large, over made up hooker).

We will return next week with all sorts of photos, knitting progress (at least that is the plan) and much happiness.

See you then!

Dear Sock, I Hate You

OK, so I have somewhat of a dilemma. I hate this sock.
I love the color. I hate the pattern.
I have a problem.
Zen Yarn Garden in Horrible Obnoxious Pattern

Zen Yarn Garden in Horrible Obnoxious Pattern

The problem is that this sock is the the fifth and final Ravelympics project.
What is a girl to do? I want Monkey socks. Deliciously ugly/cute Monkey socks out of Zen Yarn Garden Butterscotch yarn.
But at the same time, I also want to hit the Ravelympics finish line with all of my projects completed.
So, instead of making a decision, I did what any self-respecting knitter would do. I cast on for something else.

The fourth of my five Ravelympics projects is now off the needles.

Ravelympics Project #4

Ravelympics Project #4

Pattern: Bubbly Toes (Pattern designed by me for Make 1‘s Sock Club 2008)
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces (Black Purl) & Louet Gems (Grey)
Needles: US 1.5 (2.5mm)
Started: Feb 7, 2008
Finished: August 18, 2008

I gather by the responses to my last post that there seems to be some concern among those that know me well that I may need AuntyTink (aka, the Goddess of Lace) to come with me on my holiday to Seattle. This is because I never seem to get more than a couple of rows of my lace projects done without needing some form of assistance from her.

Well, rest assured ladies, I have anticipated this and will be bringing more than one project.

I have a few pairs of socks that have deadlines within the next little bit. I cast on for this sock during the last toe-up sock class that I took and the pair needs finishing before Xmas.

And this sock needs finishing before the end of the Ravelympics. This is my last Ravelympics project and I am confident it will be finished before the deadline.

I finished the third of my five projects for Ravelympics and I am feeling good about my chances of being finished all five in time.

This is a pattern that I designed for Make One Yarn Studio for their sock club this year. I am knitting it out of some Lorna’s Laces in Black Purl and Louet Gems in a grey color (I lost the band for this yarn).

I should be finished by the end of the weekend.

Next week, we are flying to Seattle for pleasure, not business. This means hours of free knitting time. I intend to work on this…

I finished the second of the five projects that I entered into the Ravelympics. Remember this WIP from last year?

Monkeys Entrelac Blanket

Monkey's Entrelac Blanket

Yarn: Misti Pima Cotton Silk in Eggplant, Green, Blue, and Cream. I think I used about 2 skeins each (this stuff has fabulous yardage) to make this crib size.

Needles: US 7 Denise

I also managed to pick up some Perchance to Knit laceweight in the last Loopy Ewe sneak up.

I finished my first Ravelympics Project.

Cleopatra Stockings

Cleopatra Stockings

Pattern: Cleopatra Stockings (Rockin Sock Club, May 2008 ) (size small)

Yarn: Socks that Rock (Lightweight) in The Incredible Shrinking Violet

Needles: US 1.5 (2.5mm) for the foot and US 2 (2.75mm) for the leg

I can’t wait to get the remainder of the WIP’s off my needles, alleviate the associated guilt, and move on to some new things. I have three more socks to finish and then the rest of the baby blanket that I started last year.

Wall In Repose

Wall In Repose

The wall that TG built is finally done! This wall has been under construction for at least a year and a half and I am so very proud to say it is finished. Well done, husband. Well done.

Oh, and the sweater that I put down for the massive heat wave in July is coming along nicely. This is destined to become one of my Rhinebeck sweaters.
