The Bunny Socks (aka SOS 2008 Pair #1) are done and Bunny loves them. Thanks to Grammy for passing the fabulous yarn along!

Bunny Socks #2

In other news, I cast on for a new pair of socks while waiting for the lace goddess to come back. These are Duet Skinny sock in Icicles bought from the Loopy Ewe.

Teaking

I left at the butt crack of dawn today with two friends to take an hour drive to Olds to take a class this morning. It was fabulous and very enlightening, but more on that in a minute. This is the conversation that TG and I had this morning:

Me: “Hi, how are the kids?”

TG: “Fine. Where are you again?”

Me: “At a class in Olds.”

TG: “Oh yeah. A teaking class right?”

Me: “Ssssssssteeking”

TG: “Whatever. What time will you be home?”

This is how much he cares about the knitting. Me, on the other hand, I care a lot. The highlight of my day? Getting to meet Lucy Neatby, taking her steeking class, and then (gasp) having lunch with her. Yup. Best day ever.

She’s holding Bunny’s sock which I finished on the way home. Time to cast on for a new sock for Summer of Socks 2008. I haven’t decided yet what the new sock will be. I think I will have a good look through the Ravelry cue before making a decision.

Co-dependent Knitting

A couple of nights ago, I realized that I am in a co-dependent relationship. It’s actually pretty serious. I know this because the person I depend on goes out of town for a few days, I can’t function. Truly. Want to see what I mean? Look. It’s hideous actually.

YOL Mistake

Yup, last night, I tried to fix my own lace mistake as my lace goddess was out of town camping. It went a little something like this:

Step 1: Take knitting out of bag and visualize how it should look

Step 2: Try to make the stitches move in to place themselves with only the power of my eyes

Step 3: Realize this is just not happening and take out little set of crochet hooks

Step 4: Take a deep breath and try to drop two stitches only 3 rows

Step 4: Curse when one stitch drops, um, 10 rows or so

Step 5: Fix the extra dropped stitches

Step 6: try to somehow make two missing decreases while getting all of the unravelled yarn in the right places

Step 7: Realize that this is never going to happen and do what should have been done in the first place – put the knitting away and wait for qualified help…

Please come back lace goddess; I clearly need you!

I joined Summer of Socks (SOS 2008) a few months ago with some pretty lofty ideals. See, I have a whole schwack of sock yarn that calls to me to knit and yet, I am extraordinarily distractable and a huge hoarder collector and so I never seem to knit much of the sock yarn that I buy/receive from friends/swaps.

So, thinking ahead, I decided that SOS 2008 would be a good kick in the ass motivational tool to get me knitting socks. Of course, I am not much for follow through (I think the kids are killing my sense of accomlishment) this may well be the last pair for SOS 2008

Coincidentally, my friend brought me back some very cool sock yarn to get me going. This is special East Coast yarn and while I will make fun of their Grape Nuts Ice Cream (who the hell eats ice cream with cereal in it?!?), you couldn’t pay me enough not to make fun of this yarn. And, Bunny loves it too – which is good – as the socks are destined to be hers.

My Pheonix is Rising

I am trucking along on the first YOLproject and just in time too. It sounds as though the new YOL will soon be out. I am crossing my fingers that it will be a rectangle. I loves me some lacy stole goodness.

I don’t know how Make One will be able to top this shawl. Silk? Good. Lace? Good. Fire-engine Red? Super.

In other news, I have had the Olive Branch Yoga Hoodie on my needles just hanging out, doing nothing for a while now. What is vexing me is the size. See, the pattern has you knit the hood first and then start the raglan increases. I have done enough increases for the size 38″ bust and if you remember, I have a respectable 38″ bust. However, being sweater dumb, I can’t seem to figure out if I should build in some ease or if the sweater would already have that built into the measurements.

What do you think? Should I make the 38″ bust or the 42″ bust? I want some ease, but not so much that it isn’t somewhat form-fitting. Help. Please.

And look what I got in the mail today. Pretty!

Monkey Surprise

This past month has been stupid. Like mach 10 with my hair on fire stupid. But, I have to say although I appreciated the break, I really have missed blogging. So, without further ado, here are the million and one things that I have been working on since I last checked in.

This is the Secret of the Stole II that I have been working on since last November. I am almost halfway done. I would have been finished a long time ago except I only seem to get through about five rows before I make a mistake and have to take it to the Goddess of Lace for adjustments. It’s actually in time out right now… somehow I have one extra stitch. Maybe someday it will be finished. Maybe…

SOTS II Stole

Embossed Leaves Socks. I love this pattern so much. It’s one of the most elegant patterns out there.

I think I have been bitten by the lace bug. I seem to alternate between this (my first YOL project) and the SOTS II Stole. It just depends on what lace project is currently in time out.
